The Problem

The vast majority of image content on the Internet is inaccessible to screen-readers used by the BVI community.

This is because of a lack of alt-text descriptions for images.

Our Solution

GenAlt is an easy-to-use browser extension that allows users to obtain AI-generated alternative text for images online.

How to Use GenAlt

1. 1. Simply right-click on any image in your browser.
2. 2. Select "Get Alternate Text from GenAlt" from the resulting menu.
3. 3. Wait for around 10 seconds ... and a newly-generated alt-text description will be on your image!

How It Works

To generate alternative text, GenAlt uses advanced image captioning AI provided by the Stable Horde computing network.

How to Install

GenAlt is currently available for installation on Chrome.

Try it Out!

After installing GenAlt, right-click on this image and select "Get Caption From GenAlt". Enjoy!
